Today, Ms Hadley and Ms. Bartell take us to Nanjing Museum to see the artworks made by Wu Weishan. The exhibition is called Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Gallery of Nanjing Museum. These artworks are sculptures. Wu Weishan's artworks are both contemporary and traditional.
In those artworks, I like the sculpture which is named "Sleeping Baby" best.This artwork is made in the year of 1998. The "Sleeping Baby" is made of bronze and the shapes are triangles, circles and half of the circles. The lines of the "sleeping Baby" are curves, straight lines and wave lines. The colour of this artwork is bronze. The subject of the artwork is the baby who is the artist—Wu Weishan's friend's son. His friend wanted he to make a sculpture about his son's feet but Wu Weishan didn't what the little baby's feet be hunt, so he didn't make. Suddenly, he saw the baby's face, he made a sculpture about the image of the sleeping baby, so the subject of the artwork is about a baby who is sleeping. The sculpture of the baby"s eyes are closes and his mouth is open a little.
The artwork makes me feel warm and the artwork reminds me of when my cousin was six months old, she often slept like the baby of this artwork. The artwork also makes me think about that the baby maybe having a good dream and his/her father and mother love him/her very much because he/she has a good image of the sleeping style. This artwork also reminds me about my mother and my father, they all take a good care of me, do not just in the past, also at this present they still pay lots of attentions to me, so I think this artwork also represent Father's Love and Mother's Love. This artwork got the Pan Green Award in the year of 2003. I think the the artist's intention is to tell everyone that the babies are pure and they all like angles,we need to take a good care of them and it also reminds people to value their father's love and mother's love.
I like this artwork because because the sculpture makes me feel warm. The baby sleeps heavily and he really enjoy his dream so I think its warm.. Maybe some people doesn't like the artwork that Wu Weishan had made because that those artworks are not paying more attentions to the details. Its style a little bit likes abstract style, and also,different people have different feelings.
